Symantec workspace virtualization

A few days ago, I came upon Symantec workspace virtualization. This used to be an Altris product. One of the hidden facts here is that there is a free license to use on your personal machine that could be suitable for a lot of people. This tool allows one to install applications in a virtual layer on your PC. At a click of a button, the entire installed software can be made inactive, active or deleted. These are the possibilities for me:
- Install trial-ware application on my main PC without being too concerned about cleanly removing it
- Easier than installing within a virtual machine that has added overhead of loading as well as taking up resources
- Installing several versions of the same programs without them conflicting.
- Has articles on installing older versions of browsers, especially IE 6. This allows organizations to keep running IE 6 specific applications in a virtual layer and allows developers to test their solutions in the same medium as well.
